Christmas time looms and everyone's ill. But projects continue!

It’s that time of year again!

Yes that’s the one.

The time colds and flu are rampant, and everyone ends up bloody ill!

Now I won’t complain about the time off work, and a week spent in front of the fire; but I’m not one to be ill very often, and sitting around all week doing nothing with no workshop time has driven me mad!

Suffice to say, there won’t be too many project updates and announcement’s this week I’m afraid.

I like to think of myself as a productive man, so while I’ve been sitting on my arse all week, I have been spreading my website as much as possible and begun writing more specific articles to do with wood carving.
So far they’re quite general, but I would like to begin producing ‘how to’ articles, reference articles and ultra-specific wood carving material. So if anyone would like a topic covered or thinks of something good I could cover, please contact me or leave a comment below. Additionally, any suggestions on how to improve the website or content, please tell me. I want this to be all about entertainment, education and providing one of a kind items. So without your input, I can’t provide quality, targeted information.

Enough of the boring end of CutMarks!

I have been back in the workshop today working on some projects for you all to lay your eyes upon!

I stupidly didn’t take a ‘before picture’ of this axe, but I can assure you, it looked weird. It was sort of square and had a damaged scrap of pine as a handle. For £3 I snapped it up along with an antique wooden plane, which will also get restored at some point and be up for sale.

As you can see, I have removed the handle and shaped the axe head to look a little more pleasing on the eye. The curved recess at the bottom will allow a closer grip for more precise cuts. It’s been a while since I’ve done any metal work and I’ve missed the smell of grinding metal, but back to woodworking for the handle!

The last couple of projects this week have been the completion of the drinks cabinet shelves,

And I have begun carving some designs to attach to a jewellery box. Here is the first one, rough carved.
